Join us for this inaugural, massive near-double (trust us - it's long enough!) through some of the most spectacular areas in the southern reaches of the Front Range. Jonathan Fey has put together an aspirational gravel odyssey that will challenge even the most experienced of gravel grimpeurs. Although this ride will be tough, it will be rewarding as well. Just as spectacular as the climb up Phantom Canyon - which you will do mostly in the dark - is the descent down Shelf Road. And in between, there is most likely quite a bit of terrain you have not ridden before; some gravel, some paved. From Victor to Cripple Creek and down into Divide it is all tarmac. The paved descent from Divide to Florissant is winding and fast, and then you gradually roll back up to Cripple Creek whereupon you hit Shelf. Caution: there are sections of steep dropoffs with no guardrail! Once back in Canon City, you wend your way on bucolic Copper Gulch Road up to the tiny town of Westcliff. What this hasn't prepared you for is how high you have actually climbed, because the descent down Oak Creek Grade is a dirty roller coaster ride - a perfect way to end the Triple Crown season for 2021.
